Mike O'Connor

Mike O’Connor is originally from Southern Maryland, and always guessed he would make a living as a musician. While to this day he still plays music, it’s working with concrete between his fingers instead of strings that has become his passion. Mike has been using concrete, wood, stone, and steel to create living spaces for over thirty years.

He started using concrete as a interior architectural medium to create countertops and pieces in 2002. After a few years in 2004-05 Michael decided to go visit Buddy Rhodes in San Francisco, and ended up taking some classes from him. This led to the famous Buddy Rhodes “pressed finish” technique that is still popular with clients today.

Mike has since expanded his abilities by adding GFRC, (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete) and fabric forming to his “tool-box-of-techniques”. Mike loves the idea of staying small and giving each client the personal close focused attention needed to create the truly timeless and personal pieces that are deserving in the special places in their home.
